Buried Treasure

It’s been said  that one of the secrets of happy homemaking is to reduce the clutter.”If you haven’t used it in six months you don’t need it!”….is an oft-heard expression.

Three years ago it took me 5 months to pack our house for moving – and we weeded out more than we brought!  I’ve been searching for a truly precious book since the move – to no avail.  Then, unexpectedly,  there it was – amongst a toteful of wedding souvenirs – including my hat – from 15 years ago.  No rhyme or reason to why it was there – but buried treasure nonetheless.

With the advent of this new year, I decided to remuster and declutter again – and will keep my prized possessions in labeled boxes.

When You Least Expect It!

I'm not a dyed-in-the-wool follower of daily horoscopes, but do read them on a regular basis.

Yesterday's message suggested I might be able to accomplish something almost miraculous - and I thought immediately of a family member who needs housing. During the day a little bird sang in my ear and an opportunity became plausible!

But today is a red-letter one.....a totally unexpected  gift from an improbable donor. It was an "aha!" moment - right out of the blue.

Sweet!

 Tis the season...to be unjolly

Holiday time ahead - and what to take away? Baggage restrictions mean smaller suitcases and one carry-on that can be shoved under the seat. Totes on wheels are a wondrous invention – and as I angst over the bright beachwear and gauzy wraps that no longer fit I’ve decided, for two reasons,  to pack my fat and ship it elsewhere. With no return address.

Someone once commented that I was “Warmth in the Winter and Shade in the Summer”. Makes one feel like a Glam Queen,  eh! A neighbor and I now have a weight-loss bet we started at New Year’s – I’m aiming to get those orange patent shoes on just one more time.

At least I know they’ll fit!
